Albany artist Renée Tan invites audiences into A World Without Borders, an intricate exploration of storytelling, humanity and the transformative possibilities of paper. Working predominantly with paper, Tan creates meticulously hand-cut, folded and threaded artworks that reveal extraordinary detail through a process of patience, persistence and curiosity. Self-taught and inspired by her mixed East and Southeast Asian heritage, as well as her life in the coastal city of Albany on Menang Noongar Boodja, Tan’s practice explores the diversity of human experience and the connections that transcend cultural and geographical boundaries.
