John Adams' Short Ride in a Fast Machine bursts forward with propulsive energy, while Thomas Pandolfi brings his virtuosic flair to two Gershwin favorites - the jazzy Second Rhapsody and playful I Got Rhythm Variations. The concert reaches its peak with Aaron Copland's Symphony No. 3, whose stirring finale features the iconic "Fanfare for the Common Man." This program radiates the optimism, courage, and innovation that define the American spirit.
