About
The TSO continues its sequence of Mahler’s symphonies featuring Symphony No. 7, often referred to as the “Song of the Night.” The performances begin with Bach’s Third Suite, with its aching Air in G. Mahler’s “ Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, ” is a grand nocturne that sings to the stars, and glows with the moon. Written around the turn of the 20th century, the epic journey features a haunting low-brass emotional peak in the first movement, followed by two eerie and seductive nocturnal interludes before a boisterous conclusion punctuated by ringing cowbells and drums.
