Donna Bacalao

“Æ må få lov å ha ein drøm” Donna Bacalao is a magnificent and popular musical with music by Frode Alnæs and lyrics by Stig Nilsson. The performance takes the audience back to the heyday of clipfishing in 1850 on the North Sea coast, where trade, power and strong personalities characterized life on the bergan in Kristiansund. The story revolves around the brave and strong woman Donna – inspired by hard-working clipfish workers along the coast. Through passion, intrigue and humour we meet clipfish barons, traders and sailors in a story where love, money and power are at stake. With a large ensemble of soloists, choirs, dancers and musicians, and with the coastal landscape as a scenic backdrop, the performance is a living tribute to the clipfishing tradition and coastal culture in North Sea. Donna Bacalao combines musical theatre and storytelling in a spectacular experience – full of humour, drama and magnificent music.
