About

We're delighted to host Kirk Sharp, Executive Director of the Gordon Parks Museum, for a special lecture on the exhibition Homeward to the Prairie I Come. The winners of the MOA Photography Competition will also be announced. This discussion is free and open to all. Details to be announced. Kirk Sharp is a Kansas native from Fort Scott who has served as the Executive Director of the Gordon Parks Museum at Fort Scott Community College for the past 7 years. A graduate of Fort Scott High School, he went on to earn Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Pittsburg State University. Through his work at the museum, Sharp promotes the life and legacy of Gordon Parks—internationally known as a photographer, filmmaker, writer, and musician. He is inspired by Parks’ remarkable story of creativity and perseverance, and works to promote the humanities as a powerful way to preserve meaningful stories that help communities better understand one another.
