About

(Sharon Kleinberg, Mexico, 2026, 98 min. En español con subtítulos en inglés) At 40, Mario, a transgender taxi driver and taekwondo master, has built a life on his own terms. But when he unexpectedly discovers that he is pregnant, his carefully constructed world is thrown into uncharted territory. Faced with a decision he never imagined having to make, Mario embarks on a deeply personal journey that challenges his ideas about identity, masculinity, family, and parenthood. Featuring a performance for the ages by non-professional actor Oustin de León, winner of the Best Actor Award at the Guadalajara Film Festival, Sharon Kleinberg’s I Am Mario is an intimate and moving portrait of self-determination and transformation that also won the festival’s Maguey Award for Best LGBTQIA+ Film.
