Historie
It opened in 1978.
- 1976After Léonard Gianadda found remains of a temple to Mercurius on a building plot at Martigny’s edge, he founded the foundation in memory of his younger brother Pierre, who died in a plane crash that year. It aims to commemorate Pierre and promote Martigny’s history through temporary cultural events.
- 1978The foundation opened to the public. Its first exhibition included paintings attributed to Dürer, Rembrandt, Rubens and possibly Picasso; these were later exposed as fraudulent.
- 1980The major temporary exhibition series began. Early exhibitions included Paul Klee and Picasso, organized with art critic André Kuenzi.
