15th c.A bakers’ guild house stood on the site.
1821The guild house was sold to the city and became an inn named Krone, distinguishing it from the Gasthaus zu Metzgern opposite.
1852The inn came under private ownership.
1968Walter Hauenstein bought the hotel, a neighboring butcher’s shop and Feuergässchen.
1971The hotel buildings were demolished after plans to preserve original components were discussed.

1979The hotel added the Aare Terrace.
1983The hotel opened a China Restaurant.
2008The first-floor restaurants and reception were renovated.

Spring 2024Melanie Fontana became director.
