Ajalugu
The site’s earlier textile history began with a workshop built by Sabina Dorothea Allgäuer. It later housed a spinning mill and municipal soup kitchen before architect Karl August Hiller converted the factory into an embroidery shop. Isaak D. D. Einstein & Co. became one of St. Gallen’s leading embroidery companies.
- 1830Sabina Dorothea Allgäuer built a five-storey textile-finishing workshop.
- 1884Isaak D. Einstein opened a St. Gallen branch in an existing factory at Berneggstrasse 2.
- 1886A three-storey extension was added at Berneggstrasse 4.
- 1907Jakob Merz’s project joined the extension to the Berneggstrasse 4–6 complex.
- 1936D. Einstein & Co. became Adolph Hahn & Co.
