FIFA leased the building in April 2013, and the City approved the plans that November. Museum renovation work ran from 2014 to December 2015.

- 2012Sepp Blatter and the FIFA Executive Committee proposed a Zurich museum about world football history.
- April 2013FIFA signed a 40-year lease for Haus zur Enge.
- November 2013The City of Zurich Building Authority approved the museum plans.
