היסטוריה
The café later expanded when the original premises’ first floor was converted. The second-floor marzipan museum opened in 1999.
- 12th c.Marzipan has been sold on the premises since at least the 12th century; this does not date the café’s founding.
- 1864–1895Wilhelm Köpff led the family business and added a café and reading corner to the confectionery.
- ExpansionThe first floor of the original premises was converted, bringing the café to its present size.
- Wartime destructionBombing destroyed the café and burned the company archive.
- Postwar rebuildingBrothers Jürgen and Henning Strait rebuilt the café on the same Breite Straße site.
