The building once served as the administrative centre of the Bernese Oberland district and hosted state events. Its first-floor courtroom, where wrongdoers were tried, is now a seminar and conference room. The Beutler family modernized the hotel while preserving its historic character.
- 1491Louis Ross renovated the house in 1491; the hotel has welcomed travellers since that year.
