This week’s Discovery Design Time gets textural with Monster Textures, a Monsters in the Museum-themed session exploring how artists use implied texture — specific brush techniques that make a painted surface look real, whether it’s fluffy clouds, rough brick, or a scaly monster hide. Guests will practice three signature techniques using different brush types: smooth surfaces with a flat brush, fuzzy fur with a fan brush, and overlapping scales with a filbert brush. Once they’ve built confidence with each technique, guests will put their new skills to the test by designing an original monster that combines smooth, fuzzy, and scaly textures.
