Historia
- 1857–1872Otto Wesendonck owned the park and lived in Villa Wesendonck with his family.
- Before 1951–52The city acquired Rieterpark and Villa Wesendonck before the villa’s conversion into a museum.
- 1949–1956Swiss expressionist painter Johannes Itten directed the museum.
- 1951–52Alfred Gradmann oversaw the conversion of Villa Wesendonck into a museum.
- 24 May 1952Museum Rietberg opened and established its own press shortly afterwards.
