History
The southeast wing likely dates from the late 18th century. Most of the current building was constructed in the early 19th century.
- Before 1736The inn was already established; it later served as a coaching inn during the Georgian period.
- 1834An inn-yard carriageway ran through the central entrance; it had been altered by the early 20th century.
- 1839The hotel was renovated.
- 1869The hotel hosted the inaugural dinner of the Monmouthshire Polo Club.
- 1952The building became Grade II listed on 5 July.
