History

Athlete and Czechoslovak swimming and diving representative Běla Friedländerová-Havlová helped shape the design and sporting concept. She also led sports and physical-education courses mainly for women and girls.

  1. 1930–1932Architect and builder Václav Pilc designed and built the functionalist hotel. Plans combined a hotel with a guesthouse, café, offices, shops, garages and sports facilities.
  2. 1933–1934The hotel opened around the turn of 1933 and 1934.
  3. Original facilitiesThe original sports facilities included a 25-metre pool with a diving tower, plus large and small gymnasiums. These details describe the original facilities.
  4. After 1948After nationalisation, Prague sports clubs and school classes mainly used the pool.
  5. 1978–1985Renovations lowered the pool and removed its original diving tower.
