The hostel’s mission statement set out its priorities in 1997, and it began welcoming guests the following year.
- 1997The mission statement committed the hostel to environmentally conscious operations and putting people first.

- 2011It became Switzerland’s first hostel certified as climate neutral, under a model that offset remaining emissions through climate projects.
- October 2017A rooftop photovoltaic system began generating some of the hostel’s electricity.
