History
The tavern was named after Landtsvenner Ryter, who was appointed to run it. It now operates as an inn with a restaurant, ski bar and traditionally furnished chalet rooms. Construction of the Lötschberg railway brought more guests to Kandersteg, and two further building phases expanded the Victoria into the present-day hotel.
- 1789A tavern was built in Kandersteg for travelers and the sick, by order of the authorities in Bern.
- 1895The Hotel Ritter was expanded with the Victoria section as tourism grew.
