History
Bill ran the downstairs café while Toni and Adolfo ran the upstairs restaurant.
- 1950s and 1960sStanley Street was the centre of Sydney’s original Italian community.
- 1965Guglielmo (Bill) Chiappini opened the San Siro Coffee Lounge on Stanley Street.
- early 1970sA restaurant opened above the café, run by Toni de Santis and Adolfo Fasciani. The café and restaurant adopted the name Bill & Toni’s, while San Siro remained a reminder of the earlier name.
- mid-1980sCesare Zucaro took over running the café after Bill retired.
- 1986Eva Santilli joined the café, working in its kitchen and making coffee.
