History
After a closure in 2000, it was auctioned in 2001.
- 1646The foundation walls probably date to the year the neighbouring house was built.
- 1801The building was extended towards the river and gained its first guest rooms.
- 1895Hans Stork took over the property through the Hotels Bellevue und Central corporation.
- 1897The original hotel building, designed by Horace Edouard Davinet, was completed.
- 1900The third and fourth floors, possibly including the tower, may have been added around this time; the hotel then had about 75 guest rooms and 15 staff rooms.

- 2000–2001The hotel was closed in 2000 and auctioned the following year.
- 2005A flood damaged renovation work, and the hotel closed for seven months while the building dried.
- 2006The hotel acquired the Riverhouse bungalow as a family holiday cottage.
- 2012A lounge, roof terrace and apartment opened in spring; the hotel received its fourth star in April.
- 2015–16A second elevator was added, the existing elevator was extended to the fourth floor, and reception was rebuilt during a two-month closure.
- 2017–18Balconies were enlarged and room categories expanded to include updated family, single and larger double rooms.
- 2025The front part of the property, Backpackers Alplodge, began a complete renovation in late September.
