History

Andy Williams and Phil Richards performed at the 1966 opening. Evel Knievel was seriously injured attempting a jump over the fountains on 31 December 1967. Caesars Palace later hosted major boxing matches and Formula One races in its car park. Its expansions added the Forum Shops and new hotel towers.

  1. 1966Caesars Palace opened on 5 August, founded by Jay Sarno and Stanley Mallin.
  2. 1970The Centurion Tower opened; it later became the Nobu Tower, housing a Nobu hotel and restaurant.
  3. 1979The Forum Tower was added.
  4. 1981–1982The hotel’s car park hosted Formula One races.
  5. 1987Caesars Palace has hosted boxing since the late 1970s; its arena staged Sugar Ray Leonard against Marvin Hagler in April 1987.
