  • KidZville’s Zoom Zone includes Silver Streak, Blast Off and Jumpin’ Jet.
  • Splash Island is a children’s water-play area. Splash Station has two slides, water features and a tipping bucket.
  • Lakeside Lagoon has children’s slides, interactive water features and shaded seating.

History

Construction began in 1979 and continued into early 1981.

  1. 1972The park was proposed for Maple, then a small village in Vaughan north of Toronto.
  2. 1981Canada’s Wonderland opened on 23 May as Canada’s first major theme park. Wayne Gretzky helped raise the Canadian flag before 12,000 guests.
  3. 1983The 15,000-seat Kingswood Music Theatre was added.
  4. 1992Splash Works opened.
  5. 1998Kidzville, designed mainly for infants and children, was added.

How to get there

  • BusYRT bus 760 runs from the GO bus terminal at Finch subway station. Major Mackenzie West Terminal, served by York Region Transit buses, is immediately north of the park.
  • CarThe park lies east of Highway 400, between Rutherford Road and Major Mackenzie Drive.
  • On footThe park is 1.5 kilometres north of Vaughan Mills and 5.5 kilometres north of Vaughan Metropolitan Centre station.
