History

Batlló gave Gaudí creative freedom. The remodelled house combined the family’s main-floor home with rental apartments on four other floors. Gaudí developed the façade chiefly through a plaster model.

  2. 1903Textile industrialist Josep Batlló bought the house.
  3. 1904–1906Antoni Gaudí redesigned the house with Josep Maria Jujol and Joan Rubió i Bellver, renovating the existing building instead of demolishing it.
  4. 1969The house was declared a National Historic-Artistic Monument.
  5. 1993The Bernat family acquired the house.
