History

The mall grew from its 1974 opening into a larger centre through successive expansions. The former Sears building was demolished, and Sporting Life opened in its place.

  1. 1969On February 27, Steinberg and Eaton announced plans for a mall with 150 stores.
  2. 1974The mall opened with 125 businesses, including Eaton, Simpsons, Dupuis Frères and Pascal. Fairview Corporation managed it.
  3. 1983An expansion added 110 tenants and a Sears department store.
  4. 1985Miracle Mart became the chain’s first store converted to the M. banner.
  5. 1999–2000Eaton closed in 1999, and its building was demolished the following year.
