History
The Finucanes lived there in the early 1800s, and it later passed to the MacNamaras.
- 1712The farm of “Inishtymond” was granted to John O’Brien.
- 1743Christopher O’Brien died and his eldest surviving son, Edward, succeeded him.
- 1764Edward O’Brien demolished much of the old castle and built Georgian Ennistymon House, with sash windows, fine panelling and rococo decoration.
- 1792The house passed to Ann O’Brien and her husband Matthias Finucane.
- early 1800sThe Finucanes lived at the house.

- 1843After Andrew Finucane died without lawful heirs, the house passed to William Nugent MacNamara.
- 1860Francis (“The Colonel”) MacNamara and Helen McDermott married.
- 1863Francis and Helen made the house their permanent home.
- 1936Francis MacNamara Jnr, grandson of “The Colonel,” returned to the house and turned it into a country hotel.
