History
A marble statue to the right of the entrance commemorates Otto Friedrich Haff, who died as a dive-bomber pilot in 1942.
- 1519The inn was documented as “Wirt bei St. Lienhart,” a name referring to Leonhards Church opposite.
- 1573The present inn building was built.
- 1634–1662Hans Suiter served as innkeeper and handled his duties as Pfronten’s bailiff at the inn.
- 18th c.The current name, Gasthof Adler, first appeared.
- 1823–1900Jacob Reichard was innkeeper and brewery master. He also served as mayor of Pfronten Steinach and founded its beautification association; those civic roles are not dated here.
