History
Despite the wartime ban on public dancing, large orchestras continued to perform at the Georgspalast. After the theater closed in 1962, the building housed restaurants and discos.
- 9 October 1943Air raids partly destroyed the building. Its steel frame limited the damage, but operations ceased.
- 27 May 1948The first joint event with the newly built Gondel Bar took place at the Georgspalast.
- 1950sPerformers included Kalanag, Paul Hörbiger, Gert Fröbe and Josephine Baker.
- 1960Zarah Leander performed there for a month, drawing crowds of fans to the entrance.
- 1962The theater closed as television reduced attendance.
