History
The brewery history begins on Gartenstraße; the present restaurant opened in the Comödie Fürth in 2014.
- 1709A brewery on Gartenstraße in Fürth was first recorded on 11 April.
- 1860Georg Heinrich Grüner and his brothers acquired the brewery on 3 May.
- 1863Johann Grüner began major renovations, adding a malt house, brewhouse, cellars, machinery and a cooling house.
- spring 1866An unfinished storage cellar beneath the brewery collapsed. A new cellar complex and Grüner Park were laid out on Robert-Koch-Straße.
- 1872The Grüner Felsenkeller on Robert-Koch-Straße was completed.

- 1877A major fire severely damaged the brewery.
- 1936The brewery merged with the Zirndorf brewery, retaining the Zirndorfer name.
- 1977Brewing stopped. The main buildings were used for storage before later conversion into homes.
- September 2011Tucher revived Grüner Bräu at Grüner's former beer cellar.
- 2 September 2014Opened in the Comödie Fürth on Theresienstraße after three months of renovation, with host Michael Urban continuing the Grüner tavern tradition; Naturtrüb was introduced for the opening.
