Atmosphere
- Animals from around the world are on display, many of them collected by the owners.
- Most antique cowboy artifacts in the collection come from Wyoming.
- Almost all fixtures, including ironwork, tables and a mesquite grill, were designed for the steakhouse.
- The outside west wall has a mural that re-creates Bierstadt's Buffalo Hunt.
- The old bugling royal elk, once outside the museum, now sits atop the building as a Jackson landmark.

History
Its name comes from Gun Barrel City, a small town in east Texas, which gave it a hand-painted town sign from the 1950s. The original museum building was refurbished with lodgepole pine logs. The logs were hand-peeled with draw knives in the parking lot to remove the bark. Logs for the detail around the front entrance and bar came from Shadow Mt., north of town.
