Shorts

History

After a fire spread from Grampians National Park in 2006, injured koalas, goannas and birds were treated and later returned to the wild. The zoo received two regional tourism awards in 2011 and was runner-up in the tourist-attraction category of the 2014 Victorian RACV Awards.

  1. Early 1980sColin and Liz Konig opened Wallaroo Wildlife Park on Boxing Day.
  2. 1998New owners reopened the zoo as Halls Gap Wildlife Park & Zoo.
  3. UndatedDaryl and Barb Panther took over and named it Halls Gap Zoo.
  4. 2007Greg and Yvonne Culell bought the zoo and upgraded its exhibits and visitor entrance.
  5. UndatedMark and Lisa Treweek took over with their sons Cooper and William, investing in animal welfare improvements and a saltwater crocodile exhibit.
