History
The original hotel was a centre of Kalamunda's social and early commercial life into the 1950s. The hotels accommodated commercial travellers and businesses, and served holidaymakers visiting the Darling Ranges. During the Second World War, the hotel briefly sheltered prominent residents amid the threat of Japanese invasion.
- 1902Charles Francis Hummerston built the original hotel.
- 1928George Herbert Parry designed the current hotel, built for Patrick Andrew Connolly. Its rooms included a beer garden, bars, restaurant, function rooms and guest rooms.
- 1949The nearby railway closed; the hotel had stood near its station.
- 1960sThe original and current hotels remained holiday destinations for Perth residents into this decade.
- 1985After a fire, the original hotel's first floor was boarded up and its ground floor became a bottle shop.
