History

Businesses and other groups continue to use the building as a meeting place.

  1. OriginsThe Kaufmännischer Verein Zürich bought the Pelikanplatz plot for a new trade school. The association house hosted training groups, a sports club, a theatre group, a choir and an orchestra.
  2. 1918The association acquired adjoining Thalegg.
  3. 1927–28The association built a restaurant, halls, a gym and bowling alleys at Thalegg.
  4. 1974After the vocational school moved away, the rooms were redesigned and rented as offices.
  5. 1990sDining venues and concert halls made Kaufleuten part of Zürich's entertainment scene.
