History

  1. 1968Firefighter Pierre Barsalou founded La Banquise as an ice cream shop. Later that year, it became a snack bar serving mainly hot dogs and French fries.
  2. Early 1980sPoutine joined the menu, initially in two varieties.
  3. 1994–2023Founder Pierre Barsalou’s youngest daughter, Annie Barsalou, and her husband Marc Latendresse owned the restaurant.
