After a closure in 1976, it reopened in 1977; in the 1990s it became le Portland, then Quai des Brunes.
- OriginsA café called Major Davel opened there in tribute to a Vaudois independence hero. It became a neighbourhood landmark on Place du Faucon, near Saint-François.
- From 1970Regulars called the café Le Mao, after its Chinese owner.
- 1976–1977Police ordered the venue closed in October 1976. It reopened in spring 1977.
