The 42-metre Expressway, described as Europe’s longest unsupported indoor escalator, travels from the ground floor to level 4 in 120 seconds.
About 3,200 triangular glass elements form the roof.
An eight-storey atrium connects all the centre’s levels.
The transparent outer shell brings daylight to every level and offers views toward Frankfurt’s skyline.

History

MyZeil received an ICSC commendation for architecture and urban planning in the New Developments category.

early 2008Work on MyZeil’s shell was completed, and interior construction began.
10 Nov 2008The investor announced the name MyZeil with Petra Roth present.
26 Feb 2009Then-mayor Petra Roth officially opened MyZeil. Visitors entered in batches during the first days, and the centre passed one million visitors within two weeks.
2013A permanent canopy was installed over the entrance to protect against falling ice and snow.
