History
- 1687–1723Construction of Notre-Dame-des-Victoires Church at Place Royale began in 1687 and finished in 1723.
- Late 19th centuryLord Dufferin persuaded officials to preserve and rebuild Upper Town’s fortifications when demolition was proposed.
- 1963Quebec’s National Assembly established the old town as a protected historic district.
- 1964The district’s boundary was expanded and finalized, covering 135 hectares.
- 1985UNESCO designated the historic district a World Heritage Site.
