Hotelier Josef Anton Bon chose the Lake Lucerne shore for a luxury hotel designed by Karl Gottlieb Koller of Ragaz.

1871The Vitznau-Rigi railway opened, helping draw tourists to the area.
2009Park Hotel Vitznau AG took over the hotel and closed it for renovation.
2013The hotel reopened after renovation. The Vienna Boys’ Choir performed at the reopening festivities.
