History
The site began as flood-prone land and gradually became a meat market square. It later took the names Plaza de San Francisco and Placita Vieja del Mercado, then became part of Santa Marta’s colonial street grid.
- 2008A renewal pedestrianised Carreras 2 and 3 and helped renew cultural and commercial activity in the historic centre.
