Phantasialand is a theme park in Badorf, southwest of Brühl on the Ville ridge, near Cologne, with themed worlds, rides and live shows.

History
Puppeteer Richard Schmidt wanted to make his puppets and stage sets permanently accessible to the public. He and Gottlieb Löffelhardt opened Phantasialand in 1967.
- 1967Phantasialand opened on 30 April in a former lignite mine. Its first season drew 400,000 visitors.
- 1970Alt Berlin and the Gondelbahn 1001 Nacht scenic ride opened.
- 1972Silver City opened.
- 1974The Phantasialand-Jet monorail and Wildwasserbahn log flumes opened.
- 1975Bobbahn 1, the park’s first roller coaster, opened.

- 1981China Town and the Geister Rikscha ride opened. Its construction used 1.3 million components made in Taiwan, and Chinese craftspeople came to Brühl. The founders received Taiwan’s cultural medal for promoting Chinese culture.
- 2001A fire spread from the Grand-Canyon-Bahn to the artificial mountain, damaging the Gebirgsbahn, Phantasialand-Jet tracks, Tanagra Theater roof and parts of the Westernstadt. The park closed for 15 days and invested nearly €2 million in fire protection.
- 2002Wuze Town opened. River Quest opened after the previous year’s fire.
- 2006Deep in Africa opened.
- 2016Klugheim opened on the former Silbermine site on 30 June, after two years of work.
- 2020Rookburgh began its soft opening on 17 September.
