History

The Vancouver Grizzlies played here from 1995 until moving to Memphis in 2001. The Vancouver Ravens also used the arena from 2002 to 2004.

1993The foundation stone was laid on July 13; construction began on December 23.
1995The arena opened as General Motors Place and replaced Pacific Coliseum as Vancouver’s main indoor sports venue.
2001Hosted the World Figure Skating Championships.
2002Queen Elizabeth II dropped the ceremonial first puck at a Canucks exhibition game.
2010The arena took the Rogers Arena name and was temporarily called Canada Hockey Place for the Winter Olympics.

2023A centre-hung video board and a ribbon board above the lower bowl were installed before the 2023–24 NHL season. The arena also hosted UFC 289 and the Laver Cup men’s tennis tournament.
2025Hosted the 54th annual Juno Awards and Vancouver’s first Professional Women’s Hockey League game, where Montreal Victoire beat Toronto Sceptres.
