History

Rössli began as a butcher’s shop and residence, then gained a tavern licence after Kempttalstrasse brought through traffic. Jakob Jucker received a perpetual licence in 1854, and Jakob Enderli owned the inn from 1880 to 1918. Conversion and hall construction followed in 1978, then restaurant renovation and a library in 1980. Renovations followed in 2006 and 2022.

  2. 1830sAfter Kempttalstrasse was built, the municipality sought a tavern licence for the building.
  3. 1854Owner Jakob Jucker obtained a perpetual tavern licence.
  4. Second half of the 19th centuryThe dance hall became a gathering place for villagers.
  5. 1880–1918Butcher Jakob Enderli owned the inn, residence, farm buildings, butcher’s shop and dance hall.

  2. 1976The municipality bought the property and redesigned it. The building entered the local monument inventory.
  3. 1978The inn was converted into a restaurant and a new hall was built. A modern rear extension was set back from the historic street-facing sections.
  4. 1980The restaurant was renovated, a library was added in the southeast ground floor, and the interior and upper-floor layout changed.
  5. 1981It reopened as a hotel, restaurant and library, again serving as a village-centre meeting place.
  6. 1984The hall opened, and the building reached its current size.
  7. 2006 and 2022The building underwent comprehensive renovation and modernization.
