History
Construction began in November 2002. Düsseldorf architects HPP Hentrich, Petschnigg & Partner designed the arena, and Wayss & Freytag built it.
- 2005The arena formally opened on 2–3 September. Ronan Keating and the Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz performed for 10,000 at the first show. On 6 September, Adler Mannheim faced the DEL Dream Team.
- 2006–2013Wladimir Klitschko won or defended heavyweight titles here four times, beginning with his 2006 bout against Chris Byrd for the IBF and IBO titles.
- 2007The arena hosted men’s handball world championship main-round Group 2 matches over four match days.
- 2010The arena hosted ice hockey world championship games.
- 2017The arena’s ten-millionth visitor attended Adler Mannheim versus Eisbären Berlin on 22 January.

Yes. MLP Academics Heidelberg played Bayern Munich here in December 2022 before 10,454 spectators. Each ticket sold generated a donation to the Courage Foundation for children with chronic illnesses.
