History
- 1348Haus Schadau was first mentioned in writing.
- 1847–1852Denis Alfred de Rougemont commissioned the present castle as a private summer residence, designed by James Victor Colin and architect Pierre-Charles Dusillion.
- 1925The city of Thun took ownership of the castle and park.
- 1928A restaurant began operating on the castle’s ground floor.
- 2017–2019The castle was renovated into a combined restaurant and hotel. Almost all original fixed interior fittings survived, including features uncovered beneath later paint.
