History
After brief occupations in 1990 and 1998, the mill became a cultural centre until summer 2003.
- 1836The paper factory was founded.
- 1976–1990Paper machines stopped in 1976; finishing operations continued until 1990.
- 1990 and 1998Parts of the disused mill were briefly occupied.
- 2003The mill was occupied again and served as a cultural centre until summer, hosting exhibitions, concerts, performances, readings and theatre. The redevelopment project was sold to an investor group that year.
- 2007Sihlcity opened on 22 March. Karl Steiner AG and architecture firm Theo Hotz developed the project.
How to get there
- 5 minTrainTake the S4 from Zürich main station to Zürich Saalsporthalle-Sihlcity, beside the centre.
- TramTram 13 links Sihlcity Nord with Bahnhofstrasse, Paradeplatz and Central Station; tram 5 links it with Bürkliplatz and Bellevueplatz.
- BusTrolleybus 72 stops at Sihlcity Nord. City bus 89 terminates in the underground garage, alongside four regional lines towards the city centre. Outbound regional buses stop at nearby Saalsporthalle.
- CarDrive via the Zürich-Brunau motorway exit and Uetliberg Tunnel.
