History
Reino Aventura’s original themed areas included Mexican, Cattle, French, Polynesian, Swiss and Childs Town. Cornelio, a cartoon dragon, was its original mascot. The film Free Willy was filmed at the park, and animal-rights groups later called for Keiko’s release. The Six Flags transformation added twenty attractions, including Batman: The Ride, Kilahuea and Medusa. Terminator X: A Laser Battle for Salvation opened in 2011. The former DC Universe area became Villa Hollywood in 2020, retaining its DC theme and ride names.
- 1982Reino Aventura opened in the Tlalpan forest.
- 1992The park closed for extensive remodeling and expansion.
- 1993It reopened as El Nuevo Reino Aventura on July 3.
- 1996Keiko left the park on January 6, and Cornelio returned as its mascot.
- 1999Premier Parks announced its purchase of Reino Aventura in March.
