History
Clarence Chadwick had earned his fortune from the Checkprinter, which he had invented. Hurricane Charley badly damaged the resort in 2004, and it was rebuilt over two years.

- 1946Chadwick opens the resort for fishing, after a dry hurricane ends commercial farming on the island.
- 1966The heirs sell the resort to Mariner Properties, starting its modern era.

- 2006The resort reopens slowly in March, after 18 months closed following Hurricane Charley.
