History
Miguel Espinet designed the interior. Pedro Ramírez Vázquez and Jean-Pierre Cahen designed the exterior. Swiss firms Brauen Wälchli Architectes and Tekhne SA led the renovation. The museum reopened in late 2013.
- 1993The museum opened on the initiative of IOC president Juan Antonio Samaranch.
- 2001The museum welcomed 211,360 visitors.
- During the renovationA temporary exhibition occupied the CGN boat Helvétie in front of the Olympic Park.
- 2013After 23 months of renovation, the museum reopened on 21 December. The work expanded its area from 2,000 to 3,000 square metres.
- 2013The renovation redesigned the restaurant, shop, cloakrooms and seminar rooms.
