- 1821Carl von Treskow established the family cemetery.
- 1954The zoo was founded on the neglected Friedrichsfelde palace grounds. A symbolic foundation stone ceremony took place on 30 November, followed by volunteer preparations in spring 1955.
- 2 July 1955Tierpark Berlin opened to visitors with about 400 animals representing 120 species.
- 1961A rosy pelican named Methusalem was born at the park, beginning its breeding of other pelican species.
