History
The name Trattoria del Moro came from the phrase locals used to arrange meetings at the bar. Gerbina ran the bar while Gino worked in the kitchen. Their niece Antonella Puri began helping at the bar as a schoolgirl in the early 1970s. Antonella and Salvatore’s children, Andrea and Giulia, also contribute to the restaurant.
- 1953Gino Mancini, known as “Moro,” opened the Cin Cin Bar, a small drinks kiosk on Bolsena’s lakeside promenade.
- 1955Gino and his wife, Gerbina Ferrari, added a wooden dance hall on the beach.
- Around 1960Gino, relatives and friends built a stilt platform over the lake on 60 wooden posts, replacing the beach dance hall. Locals called it the pagoda.
- Mid-1970sGerbina began making handmade ice cream with sugar, eggs and milk.
- 1980The original wooden support posts were replaced after they began to thin.
