Treptower Park is an 88.2-hectare riverside park in Alt-Treptow, in Berlin’s Treptow-Köpenick district, south of the city centre.

Treptower Hafen is a home port for Stern- und Kreisschiffahrt excursion boats on the Spree.

Soviet War MemorialDesigned by Yakov Belopolsky, it commemorates 80,000 Soviet soldiers who died in the Battle of Berlin in April–May 1945.

1876–1888Gustav Meyer planned the park, drawing inspiration from Lenné. After Meyer died, Hermann Mächtig completed it in 1888. Visitors could use it from 1882. Its central play and sports meadow was shaped like a 250-by-100-metre hippodrome.
1890A bust of Gustav Meyer by sculptor Albert August Manthe was installed in the park.
1896From 1 May to 15 October, the park hosted the Berliner Gewerbeausstellung, Kolonialausstellung and Kairo-Ausstellung. Nearly all exhibition structures had to be removed afterward.
8 May 1949The Soviet War Memorial opened.
1957–1958Georg Pniower designed a summer flower garden in the park.

Cold WarThe park lay in East Berlin and hosted the first open-air concert by a western rock band in the GDR, performed by Barclay James Harvest.
May 1989The Bethke brothers used the park as an improvised airstrip to escape to West Germany in an ultralight aircraft.
Late 20th centuryThe park underwent extensive maintenance and partial reconstruction to its historical design.
